Trump’s visit to South Korea during APEC is not welcomed.

Trump’s visit to South Korea during APEC is not welcomed.

Trump, the world's greatest imperialist, is coming to Korea. He is the enemy of the working class and oppressed people around the world. Trump has consistently supported Israel's genocide of Palestinians in pursuit of Middle Eastern hegemony. Netanyahu praised Trump as "the greatest American president ever." Trump has called for a ceasefire in the Ukraine War, but he continues to wage an imperialist proxy war against Russia, recently weighing the provision of Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine. The hegemonic rivalry with China, which intensified during Trump's first term, has significantly increased military tensions in Taiwan, the South China Sea, and the Korean Peninsula over the past decade. An actual conflict in any of these areas would put South Koreans on the bri...
Can tariffs help rebuild our economy?

Can tariffs help rebuild our economy?

For many decades, tariffs have been among the most contested instruments of economic policy, from the post-war industrialisation strategies of East Asia to the neoliberal free trade regimes imposed through the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The question of whether developing countries should protect their industries or adopt unrestricted free trade agreements is critical to debates about economic development. In South Africa, this debate is crucial. The country is confronted with crises of deindustrialisation, chronic mass unemployment, and widening inequality. The adoption of trade liberalisation, as part of South Africa’s embrace of neoliberal policies, has eroded its manufacturing base, making the country increasingly dependent on raw mineral exports and services, especially financi...

THE FIGHT CONTINUES

The Government of the "Gringo Gorilla" Noboa Azín and his gang of murderers and front men, nor their despicable maneuvers, will not prevail. For the unity of all struggles of the proletariat from the countryside and the city, let us surpass and replace the bureaucratic and treacherous leaderships of FICI, UNORCAR, and CONAIE, so that our leadership and our organizations become true instruments for the defense of the proletariat in the city and countryside. La Marx EcuadorThursday, October 16, 2025 As if by magic, almost forgetting everything that had happened and the brutal repression against the uprisen populations, the Minister of the Interior, John Reimberg, with the mediation of the Catholic Church, staged a farce: a simulated negotiation and dialogue table with the indigenous...

Pro-Democracy Contention in Hong Kong: Relational Dynamics between the Umbrella Movement and the Anti-Extradition Protests by Francis L. F. Lee

Presenting an analytical account of the relational dynamics linking the 2014 Umbrella Movement and the 2019 anti-extradition protests in Hong Kong, Pro-Democracy Contention in Hong Kong aims to explain not only the relationship between two spectacular protest campaigns but also why the anti-extradition protests exhibited a high degree of internal solidarity and public sympathy toward confrontational and at times violent protest actions. The analysis moves beyond the typical focus on the peaks of social mobilization to examine the contingent and dynamic evolution of the pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong. Drawing upon a range of research materials, including in-depth interviews with protesters and leading activists, surveys of protesters conducted onsite, population opinion surveys, system...

[Over the past month, Pakistan-Administered Jammu and Kashmir (PAJK) have experienced one of the most significant waves of mass mobilisation in recent years. The demonstrations have attracted participation from workers, students, traders, and ordinary citizens across the region, highlighting a pervasive discontent with systemic neglect and inequality. In this interview, Alternative Viewpoint speaks to grassroots activist Haris Qadeer, involved in the ongoing struggle. The discussion explores ...

Comrade Sarath Maddumage, who is presenting the solo  exhibition of paintings  “To Enjoy Life”, is currently residing in Switzerland.

But his homeland is Sri Lanka. He has come to us with the expectation and vision he has for his homeland and the land where he grew up. His art exhibition is coming to his motherland from six places including Switzerland and Nepal in order to express his gratitude to the Gothama Children's Home where he grew up and to encourage other resident children. Although our comrade is living a comfortable life in Switzerland compared to Sri Lanka, he is holding this art exhibition with many  hopes in mind, not forgetting the bitter and painful experiences of his life. Comrade Sarath's childhood was very painful. Having lost his father's love and care, he had to spend most of his life in child care centers from infancy to adolescence. Not long after, he lost his mother's affection. ...
