The Young Lawyers Association strongly condemn the brutal attack launched against civilians in Rabukkana (19.04.2022).
The role and conduct of the law enforcement authorities in opening fire at civilians is most degrading and calls for an immediate investigation and action. It is our strong belief that the law should take its course against those responsible regardless of the colour or standing of office.
The Young Lawyers Association would like to remind that violence beckons violence. Economic violence which is being unleashed on the people today will turn to physical violence. Justice cannot condemn one form of violence whilst remaining silent on the other. The Young Lawyers Association therefore extend our fullest support to ensure justice to the victims of economic and state violence and will continue to voice against the political indifference of our Government and President.
