Bangladesh – Demand to ensure the rights of indigenous peoples to land and language!

A solidarity rally was held at Zilla Parishad Auditorium in Sylhet on Friday (September 22) at 3 pm to demand the implementation of the Chittagong Hill Tracts Agreement.

Speakers at Sylhet’s solidarity rally said that people of many races and languages live in Bangladesh. This is the beauty of a country. And it is the responsibility of the state to ensure the rights of people of all these races, religions and languages. Such a state should be formed so that it is not for any religion or any caste. The state will be for the people of all races and languages.

The speakers said, we have to make an agreement through agitation, and again we have to implement the agreement through agitation. Everyone’s blood is involved in this liberation war, Chakma, Garo, Khasi, Marma, tea workers are all involved, but what happened after independence? Adivasis have been promoted! Bengali directly from tribals! Can a nation ever transform into another nation?

The speaker said, the country that was built in diversity is the country of Bengali after independence! This fight is a democratic fight, we have to move forward unitedly with everyone.

The speakers said that the peace agreement will end many tortures and oppression! But it was not fully implemented.

Speakers said LRD, according to UN data, indigenous peoples protect 80% of this nature and biodiversity. One fact tells the importance of tribals. People will not forgive you if you do not keep your promises.

Speakers said, we clearly see that those who have come to power in 52 years of independence have somehow broken the agreement.

This will be the fourth divisional gathering organized by the ‘Chittagong Hill Tracts Implementation Movement’ which was formed to demand the full implementation of Chittagong Hill Tracts. Before this, three departmental gatherings were held in Chittagong, Rangpur and Mymensingh.
