“In the shadow of the factory
Under a sugar-coated sky
The scent of Mister Sweet fills the air
But there’s a bitter cry
They work their hands to the bone
For a pittance and a crumb
While the bosses sip on profits
The workers’ hearts grow numb.
Candy smiles on posters
But the truth is not so neat
Behind every shiny wrapper
There’s a struggle in the street
Sweet turns to bitter
When justice is denied
We stand with the workers We’re right by their side
For R19 500
They march with pride”
