What next for the strike wave? Workplace struggle before and after the election

The surge in strikes which began in 2021 has declined from its peak, but strikes remain at higher levels than before. We saw some good wins, while other disputes ended with poor deals or fizzled out. The train drivers’ and junior doctors’ disputes, along with many smaller strikes, continue. There has been no real breakthrough and the impact on union membership and organisation has been uneven. All this is happening in the context of big political issues like Gaza and climate?

  • What can we learn from the strike wave?
  • What kind of organisations and perspectives do we need to transform our unions?
  • How is the election shaping industrial struggle?
  • How do we build resistance after the general election?
  • How do we make our unions stand up to a Labour government?

Join this open discussion with activists from different unions and industries. Full details at troublemakersat.work/meeting. Who should you invite along?

Troublemakers 2024 conference

We plan to hand out leaflets for the Troublemakers conference at major events coming up including the UNISON conference, National Shop Stewards Network conference, Durham Miners’ Gala and Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival. If you can help with this, please fill in the form so we can put you in touch with other attendees.

If you just want some leaflets for your workplace, branch or area, you can order leaflets here.

2024 conference: we're bringing workers together

There’s now a model motion you can adapt for your stewards committee, union branch or trades council to sponsor the Troublemakers 2024 conference and/or affiliate to Troublemakers At Work. Where can you get this passed?
