We declared our point of views of last presidential and parliamentary election which was held on year 2024. Those views are attached the below statements.
As recorded there, the people delivered an electoral verdict demanding a revolutionary change. On the other hand, the pseudo-leftist groups and parties, which appeared from a leftist perspective, were eliminated both from the electoral arena and from politics altogether.
As of May 6th, 2025, it has been 7 months and 15 days since Anura Kumara Dissanayake (AKD) became the President. As of May 6th, 2025, it has been 5 months and 24 days since the National People’s Power (NPP) government was given a two-thirds majority in Parliament. There are several reasons for the granting of such a significant mandate.
- On November 14th, 2023, the Supreme Court of Sri Lanka delivered a judgment. It named several individuals, including Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Mahinda Rajapaksa, Basil Rajapaksa, and AjithNivardCabraal, as responsible for Sri Lanka’s bankruptcy in the year 2022. The public aspiration that led to this significant legal action was to bring these individuals to justice.
- To uncover and punish the masterminds behind the Easter Sunday bomb attacks of April 2019.
- To implement the recommendations of the Lessons Learnt and Reconciliation Commission (LLRC) concerning the Tamil people in the North and East.
- To resolve the issues related to land and citizenship of the Tamil population living in the central highlands for over 200 years.
The people gave the National People’s Power (NPP) government more power than expected in order to fulfill the four points mentioned above. No financial expenditure is required to implement these matters. What is needed is only political will. Simply handing over these issues to the existing institutions within the current state apparatus and waiting idly as rulers is a dangerous delay. What this results in is providing oxygen once again to utterly defeated, corrupt, ultra-right-wing, racist, and extremist fundamentalist groups.
The other critical issue is the absence of a progressive leftist movement in Sri Lanka to lead the working people, farmers, students, women, and fisherfolk. The JanathaVimukthiPeramuna (JVP), which had so far worn a false leftist facade, began shedding that disguise practically from September 21st, 2024. Since that movement is naturally fading away, even thinking about it should be abandoned.
The parties and groups that had split away from the Lanka SamaSamaja (Socialist) movement which previously appeared to have a leftist face have become tainted by opportunism and nationalism, and are now politically defunct. The main political group that split from the JanathaVimukthiPeramuna (JVP) furthermore be considered followers of Wijeweera or Stalin, but can no longer be regarded as genuine leftist revolutionaries.
The leaders of political parties that appear under the name of the left who only move from one election to the next will be forced to find alternative means of survival after this local government election. The practice of making a living by selling the ideas of the left, revolution, socialism, and non-governmental activism is coming to an end.A significant portion of the people who gave a two-thirds mandate to the National People’s Power (NPP) is expected to abstain from voting in this local government election. According to information received by the Asia Commune, over 40% of eligible voters are likely to refrain from casting their vote. The reason for this is the people’s continuous and prolonged disappointment and It is the failure of the National People’s Power (NPP) government, which came to power as a new political force.
The View of the Asia Commune
What we ask fromthe working people of Sri Lanka and the broader population is to move beyond the insular, island-based mindset and turn their attention toward uniting with the Indian working class, which represents a large segment of the global working population.
We aim to remove national borders and transform the South Asian region , divided by imperialists in 1948, into a unified commune region.
In the coming years, it will be extremely difficult for Sri Lanka to face the social, economic, and political crises on its own. The Indian and Pakistan people are being pushed toward a destructive war by the capitalist-nationalist rulers of both countries, who are exploiting religious extremism and fundamentalism to achieve their goals. Sri Lanka, too, has experienced such conditions, and these same forces continue to re-emerge within the country as an underworld presence.
To face these challenges, the Sri Lankan working class and people must develop a political perspective that unites them with the South Asian region. This requires a revolutionary movement that goes beyond the critique of the current model of self – governing production. That movement must be a mission to transform South Asia into a new socialist commune.

We appeal to all those who are disillusioned with electoral politics and who seek a modern left alternative to connect with the Central Commune Committee of Sri Lanka.

PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS ON 14 NOVEMBER 2024 – SRI LANKA OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF THE ASIA COMMUNE
The opinion of the Asia Commune on the presidential election held on September 20, 2024 was published on the website asiacommune.org. The publication talked about a double election result.
Quote from asiacommune.org on 2024/09/20 “Two poll results due after September 21, 2024 election”
1. People, the result of change made by the people themselves
2. Result heralding the end of the politics of fake leftist groups and parties posing as leftists.
Both the results were released as announced by the Asia-Community.
For decades, the people who were beaten by capitalism did what they could do by voting. He defeated all the corrupt families who ruled him for 76 years.
Instead, Anura Kumara Dissanayake, the leader of JanathaVimuktiPeramuna (JVP), who had shown a false leftist face since 1965, was made President. In September 2024, they contested the presidential election under the name of National People’s Power (NPP). But its internal strength was the Janata VimuktiPeramuna (JVP).
They had no previous training in any new social economic program before they took power in September 2024. There was no preparation for an international deal with the revolutionary groups that are experimenting with new socioeconomic models in the world. The political problems of the Tamil people, who have been suffering from casteism for decades, have not been considered as a priority. There was no vision for cooperation with the people of the South Asian region.
In such a situation, since 21 September 2024, Anura Kumara Dissanayake became the Sri Lankan representative of crony capitalism. He has sleepily entered the wretched house of collapsing bully capitalism.
With that entry, his fake left facade was completely over. After November 14, 2024, capitalist legislation will also be empowered. 225 times they will enter the legislature where the thieves were.
Looking at that direction, other fake left groups competing in the parliamentary elections are certain to lose in the elections as well as in politics.
On November 5, 2024, Donald Trump (extreme right wing) who got 30% of the vote became the American President. His opponent Kamala Harris received 29% of the vote. The percentage of Americans who abstained from voting is 40.3%. This kind of situation can be seen in major elections all over the world. Trump’s victory, which received 30% of the vote, also strengthened India’s Hindu racist Modi regime.
The working people of the world needed a way out of this electoral trap. At this moment of parliamentary elections, let us appeal to the modern-minded Left to think creatively.
We appeal to the oppressed people of the South Asian region to stop describing problems and describe solutions.
Let’s not only describe the International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank, World Trade Organization (WTO), Asian Development Bank, but also try a modern economic model and banking system with the working people.
In order to start such a revolutionary journey, fake leftist movements must end. It is becoming so. For us to be happy, the modern region must give life to a revolutionary movement. Asia Commune works for this. Asia Commune appeals to you to join that struggle.

2024 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION IN SRI LANKA
Official Statement
Asia Commune
21st September 2024 is a crucial day for Sri Lankans. The day will be equally significant for neighboring South Asians. Because the people of Sri Lanka have decided to show their power in this election. The change is going to happen to the extent that Sri Lankan people’s knowledge and understand.
The Asia Commune stands in line with the people who are alively fighting to bring that change. Whether the people’s expectation comes to be happened or not, those progressive people will have to create a united revolutionary front, a regional party centered on the South Asian region.
Now there is no use criticizing or passing intellectual arguments the people who are going to bring the change. The reason is because since for a very long time, the left-wing movements of the whole world have failed internationally due to the betrayals of the Communist Parties.
From East to West Europe to Latin America, America as well as Canada and the Asian region, the betrayals and dictatorial atrocities of the leftists are similar to the atrocities of the capitalist system itself.
The best recent example can be pointed out based on France. French President Emmanuel Macron dissolved the French Parliament at his will. After dissolving the parliament and he held parliamentary elections on 30th June and 7th July 2024.
The New Popular Front won 178 of the 577 seats in the French general election.
Left reformists, environmentalists, NGO leftists, class collaborationists were elated by this victory. The majority of the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA- RIGHT WING) associated with the 4th International (the pseudo leftists), which claims to be internationalists, were also happy.
The French President used the Olympic period and turned the appointment of the Prime Minister as an Olympic event in July and August. But on 5th of September 2024, the far-right racist, 73-year-old Michel Barnier appointed as the prime minister of France. The appointment was made one and a half months after the elections. There were several protests against this arbitrary action of the President. Several protests have been organized in the future too. This winning front of the left has not presented a program with a vision that goes beyond as perspective. Apart from this front, the left groups are very small and divided by different opinions. That is, the European left has abandoned the creation of a revolutionary movement led by the working people for the working class.
Asia Commune is reading at the Sri Lanka’s presidential election with a proper understanding of the situation of the global left wing which mentioned above.
Currently, the leftist groups that are known as leftists (the pseudo leftists) in Sri Lanka have made their livelihood by participating in capitalist elections, solitary agitations and trade unions, as same as pseudo leftist movements in other countries.
In addition, research, experiments and new discoveries have not been resorted to for a new revolutionary program. Obviously, they don’t want to spend minimum time to spare for an international vision to unite the proletariat.
After the election on 21st September 2024, two poll results are due.
1. People, the result of change brought by the people themselves
2. Result notifying the end of the politics of pseudo leftist groups and parties posing as leftists.
Asia Commune is appealing to the Sri Lankan people to prepare to face for both these outcomes.
So, what should we do?
Clearly, whether the people made a change in the presidential election or not, the growing poverty, racism, religionism, casteism and brutality in the South Asian region, are going to rise in the coming years.
In order to face this disaster, small islanders like Sri Lanka and Maldives, as well as Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and the South Asian region should start creating a battle movement that will force to remove their borders. It is very difficult to start such a battle with ancient communists. The new generation must be ready to take this responsibility. Simply, a regional front should be created to bring Sri Lanka together with Tamil Nadu and India.
South Asia divided by Portuguese, Dutch and English should be united. It can be done by opposing the borders imposed by the imperialists. To remove those borders, it should be proposed to try new commune zone models in the South Asian region.
While criticizing the capitalist economic system very critically at the same time should be analyzed and practiced the new economic systems, banking systems, educational systems, cultural changes etc. should be experimented.
Asia Commune urges the new generation to focus on creating a revolutionary front at the regional level after these elections.
We suggest to the new generation not to get stuck in capitalist elections for a few years after the presidential election on 21st September 2024. At this time of the elections, especially the Asia Commune appeals to spend few years to build a theoretically and practically perspective on behalf of future of the South Asian region.
Although this proposal was presented just before an election, our aim is to bring it to the people as a fresh idea in near future after the election.
“We wish the people who are going to make a change in the presidential election on 21st September 2024!”
