Today a remarkable meeting between Kumaon Commissioner Shri Deepak Rawat ji with Sandeep Verma, Mohit Valecha , Anil Bakshi, and Pramod Agnihotri of Nainital and Haldwani’s delegation. The meeting was aimed at addressing immediate issues surrounding the unofficially removal of street vendors in Nainital, Haldwani and various other districts while the High Court had given clear directions to ban such eviction.

Mr. warmly greeted us and demonstrated a remarkable understanding of our challenges and the legal complications involved. With utmost sincerity, he assured us his cooperation and expressed his commitment to diligently enforcement of the relevant laws. Furthermore, he vowed to call immediate TVC meeting in each ULB under his jurisdiction and ordered the authorities to take necessary action. He said this is the first time someone has explained the provisions of the act properly. He assured that he would also call us to the meeting so that we can jointly assure smooth implementation of the law.

He also said that he would take strict action against vendors who have been found violating the plan and the guidelines associated.

In a truly commendable gesture, Mr. Rawat confirmed his dedication to collaborate with the NHF (National Hawker Federation) to facilitate rehabilitation and upliftment of street vendors within the region. This collaborative effort promises to empower these individuals and improve their overall quality of life.
